
28November2022New ECU protocols — Scania, Ford Transit, Opel Movano, Iveco, Hyundai, Kia and Toyota
We have expanded our ECU programming capabilities for trucks, commercial vehicles and passenger cars. The new protocols include real reading of Scania Continental EMS S8, EMD1 and EME1 control units, OBD programming for Ford Transit 3.5 and Opel Movano 2.3 dCi, Bench Mode support for Iveco, Hyundai and Kia, and a Clone Service for Toyota Bosch ME17.9.53 ECUs.
The new functions allow us to read, write, recover, copy and transfer data from engine control units and dosing modules. Depending on the ECU type, communication is available through the diagnostic connector, in Bench Mode, through BAM/BOOT or by direct JTAG access.
The correct method depends on the control unit design, its technical condition and the required operation. A standard software backup is performed differently from ECU recovery after an interrupted write, while cloning requires verification of both the original and replacement modules.
Scania Continental EMS S8, EMD1 and EME1 — real ECU reading
We have added support for the following Scania control units:
- Continental EMS S8,
- Continental EMD1,
- Continental EME1.
Three communication methods are available:
- Virtual Read through OBD,
- real reading in BAM/BOOT mode,
- direct access in JTAG mode.
A real read retrieves the contents stored in the specific ECU rather than only downloading a matching stock file based on software identification. This is important when creating a genuine backup, analysing modified software, repairing corrupted data or preparing a replacement control unit.
Ford Transit 3.5 — Continental M799G through OBD
A new OBD protocol is now available for the Continental M799G control unit used in the Ford Transit 3.5.
Supported functions include:
- ECU reading,
- software writing,
- Recovery after interrupted or unsuccessful programming,
- automatic checksum correction.
OBD communication allows the ECU to be programmed without removing or opening the control unit, provided that the module still communicates correctly and has no hardware fault preventing diagnostic access.
Opel Movano 2.3 dCi — Siemens SID310
We have also expanded support for the Opel Movano 2.3 dCi equipped with a Siemens SID310 engine control unit.
Available functions:
- reading through OBD,
- software writing,
- ECU Recovery,
- checksum correction.
Recovery is particularly useful after a power interruption, communication failure or unsuccessful write operation. If the fault is limited to the memory contents, correct reprogramming may restore communication and ECU operation.
Bench Mode for Iveco Bosch DCU17PC43
Bench Mode support has been added for the Bosch DCU17PC43 module used in Iveco vehicles.
Direct bench communication allows work to be carried out on the removed module outside the vehicle. This is useful when OBD access is unavailable, a complete backup is required or the module needs to be programmed separately.
Before starting, we verify the hardware number, software version and condition of the module. The DCU17PC43 designation alone is not always enough to confirm full compatibility.
Hyundai and Kia — Bosch ME17.9.11 in Bench Mode
The new Bench Mode protocol also supports Bosch ME17.9.11 control units used in Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
Direct ECU access allows us to create a software backup, rewrite the data and prepare the control unit for further diagnosis, repair or replacement.
The exact range of possible operations always depends on the hardware version, ECU part number and the degree of damage.
Toyota Bosch ME17.9.53 — Clone Service
We have also added a Clone Service for Toyota Bosch ME17.9.53 engine control units.
The function enables adaptation of password data stored in the protected OTP area. It is used when preparing a compatible replacement ECU and transferring the required authorisation data from the original control unit.
Not every used ECU can be installed directly. Before cloning, we compare the part numbers, hardware versions and the range of data that can be safely transferred.
Virtual Read compared with a real ECU read
Virtual Read uses ECU identification to download a compatible original software file from a database. It is fast and useful, but it is not always a copy of the data physically stored in the specific control unit.
A real read through BOOT, BAM, Bench or JTAG retrieves data directly from the module memory. This may be essential for software analysis, repair, cloning or the creation of a full backup.
Recovery, ECU cloning and data transfer
Depending on the control unit and its condition, we can perform:
- software reading and writing,
- ECU backup creation,
- Recovery after interrupted programming,
- copying and transferring data to a compatible module,
- ECU cloning,
- checksum correction,
- hardware and software compatibility verification.
We do not write data to a replacement control unit before checking its numbers and hardware compatibility. This reduces the risk of communication problems, starting faults or a mismatch between the software and ECU hardware.
